Are the Life in Germany test and the citizenship test the same? ▾
The question catalogue is identical, the pass mark is not: 15 of 33 for the course, 17 for citizenship. Aim for 17 right away — the certificate covers both purposes.
The DTZ only certified A2 — time and money wasted? ▾
No. The certificate reflects your actual result, so the A2 stays with you, and BAMF pays for 300 repeat lessons towards a second B1 attempt. Apply in time — otherwise you pay for those lessons yourself.
Can I get part of the course fee back? ▾
Yes: BAMF refunds 50% of the contribution you paid if you passed both final tests — the DTZ and Leben in Deutschland — and no more than two years passed between your first course entitlement (Teilnahmeberechtigung) and the final test. You apply at your regional BAMF office using form 630.031h.
